One of the things I love to do, in addition to real estate investing, is lending money at kiva.org. Today I was thinking it had been a while since I checked my status at kiva.org. I used to get occasional reminder emails from Kiva, but for some reason haven't lately. Today when I logged in to donate, I realized I was making my 62nd Kiva loan! I am proud to help aspiring entrepreneurs through Kiva.
If you'd like to see for yourself, here is a link to my lender page:
I have made loans to people in the following countries:
Cambodia, Colombia, Congo (Rep.), Cote D'Ivoire, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ghana, Guatamala, Kenya, Kosovo, Lebanon, Philippines, and Madagascar!
Wouldn't it be fun to visit everyone I've loaned money to one day?
Today I made a loan to the woman pictured above, who needed the money to buy rice. When I read that she had SIX children, that clinched the deal for me. I was eager to help her earn more money through her rice sales.
I love that you can read about each possible loan recipient. Here is what I read about Jesucita:
"Jesucita is 48-years-old, married with six children. She works hard to provide for her family. She runs a rice retailing in the Philippines and requested a PHP 10000 loan through NWTF to buy sacks of rice to sell for her business. She has borrowed and paid 12 loans from NWTF before this loan. She has been running the rice retailing for 8 years and also earns an income from food vending. She aspires to save money to expand her business."
So, I'm wondering, are you a Kiva lender, too? If not you can start lending today!
"Make a loan, change a life.
Kiva empowers underserved people to achieve their dreams by crowdfunding loans and unlocking capital."
